Sep 9, 2010 - ahaha love it how the refs just stand and watch :)
sTyLnK Says:
Sep 9, 2010 - @FunkyMonk31 Yes, fighting is part of ice hockey. Fighting can happen to pump up your team or if 2 players are pissed off at each other they can take off their gloves and helmets and take out their frustrations. The people standing around watching are called referees. Hockey is a Canada's #1 sport and many people especially Americans who never grew up with the sport don't understand it so they make fun of it. It's truly a great sport to play and watch. Very fast paced and physical.
sTyLnK Says:
Sep 9, 2010 - @Hakan625 Yes fighting is part of the sport. And that's not a judge it's a referee. lol a judge...that's wicked...
Hakan625 Says:
Sep 9, 2010 - @sTyLnK I find it stupid that violence has to be part of such a sport. These people aren't professional fighters anyway..
zinnyzxx Says:
Sep 9, 2010 - @Hakan625 dont think of it as mindless violence. you have your smaller players for scoring and the big defenders. the defenders have to make sure that their little guys dont get pounded on, they need to put the others in their place. In no way is fighting in hockey stupid. it's always been apart of the sport. it makes it what it is. if you hate it so much then, dont watch it.
FunkyMonk31 Says:
Sep 9, 2010 - @sTyLnK Thanks for the reply - i think that is awesome - i love the hardness and the fact you can get it on in the middle of the rink and go hard at each other.. We have a sport here called Australian Rules Footy - Very hard hits and can come from all angles but there is no way a good old punch on would be allowed like this .. Ill be taking more notice of Ice Hockey - and dont worry about the ignorant Yanks .. They wouldnt know a good sport if it was to bite em on the arse ;)
FunkyMonk31 Says:
Sep 9, 2010 - @zinnyzxx Yeh i love it .. more and more i see of it .. :) and Hakan625 u just need to toughen up a lil champ, This sport has been around for many years .. i think they all know what they are doing when it comes to the brawling !!! : )
lildevil877 Says:
Sep 10, 2010 - I bet half the audience there are hoping to see a fight. Its funny how the umpire just waches
CiMBoMTurkiye93 Says:
Sep 10, 2010 - they do fight alot but it dosnt mean anything its only for the sport and to motivate your team, they are usually good friends after the fights and matches
Hakan625 Says:
Sep 10, 2010 - @zinnyzxx Fine. But remember, public displays of controlled violence encourages others to justify mindless violence.
scottycreekboxing Says:
Sep 10, 2010 - @lildevil877 haha it ain't no umpire buddy. this ain't baseball its hockey. and fighting is part of the game. if players weren't allowed to fight they would find other ways to let out their frustrations. Possibly leading to a more serious injury then a fat lip or a black eye.
leifey Says:
Sep 10, 2010 - @Hakan625 I don't see how you can say that. That's like saying public displays of controlled affection encourage others to justify mindless animalistic sex.
slump17 Says:
Sep 10, 2010 - I think one of those punches may have missed....wow.
drumguitarboy Says:
Sep 7, 2010 - @LouieChristensen They arn't aloud to interfere until the fight is 'over' :P
